An 8-year-old boy has set up a charity collecting clothes for homeless people who will be cold outside this winter.

Braydon Bolt, who is from South Ockendon, went out in London and was concerned to see so many people sleeping rough without decent clothes to keep them warm during the harsh UK winter.

Braydon said: "I did this because I went around London and saw people who looked really, really cold.

"I didn't like that was happening to them so I started collecting clothes for them."

So Braydon started asking people to donate clothes to his cause

Then, after months of building up a stash of apparel, he then embarked on a trip to London to hand out what he had collected.

He went around London with his family and when they spotted somebody sleeping rough, Braydon got out of the car and gave them an item of clothing.

Braydon said the response was great.

He added: "Everybody seemed please with what we gave them.

"I got lots of thank yous and thank you very much's."

Braydon, who is a pupil at Engayne Primary School in Cranham, was also given the Headteacher award and a certificate for community service for helping the homeless.

Braydon's mum, Pippa Bolt, said she was "unbelievably proud" of her son.

She continued: "For an 8-year-old to be able to do this is incredible.

"We explained to him why people are in this situation so he would understand.

"He just went around talking to them.

"He would give them every penny if he could."
