A driver who was involved in a crash that left a teenage cyclist with serious injuries has been disqualified for two years.

Police officers were called at around 2.20am June 24 to reports of a crash between a car and a cyclist in Lodge Lane.

The teenage boy was taken to hospital with head and leg injuries which were described as serious but not life-threatening.

Connor Nimmo, 20, of Highfields Gardens, Grays, was arrested at 2.43am.

Nimmo was arrested under suspicion of being unfit to drive through drink or drugs.

He was later charged with drink-driving and appeared at Basildon Magistrates Court on July 13.

He was disqualified for 24 months, ordered to complete an 80 hour community order and must pay an £85 victim surcharge for drink-driving.

His name and photo were shared as part of a naming and shaming anti-drink and drug driving campaign by Essex Police.
