A lane was closed on the M25 between junction 29 and junction 30 after a vehicle caught fire.
Traffic was queued back onto the A127 and the A13 while emergency services dealt with the blaze.
Queueing traffic is still an issue on the M25 Clockwise between J29 Southend Arterial Road and J30/31 A282.
The traffic was briefly stopped initially but was moving again at 9.55am.
