FRUSTRATED residents are fuming about huge mounds of rubbish on land where travellers had previously been illegally camped.
Old furniture and rubbish bags were dumped on land next to Orsett Hall after at least half a dozen caravans were moved on earlier this week.
Following intervention from the Thurrock Gazette, the mess was removed within 24 hours of complaints being made.
Henry Klein, of Orsett Road, says the eyesore is proving to be very frustrating for residents, and urged the council to take action. He said: “There must be a way of finding who did this - there is the photographic evidence and it has to be the encampment which was set up there.
“It is in such a state and we are all fed up, to be honest. It’s so frustrating as there’s lovely countryside around here.”
A Thurrock Council spokesman says it is taking “every action available” to ensure unauthorised traveller incursions are prevented from accessing council land.
