POLICE are appealing for help after a man was stabbed in the back following a confrontation with a gang of men.

The victim, a man in his 20s, was walking up the High Street with a group of friends at around 10.30pm on Sunday, April 16 when he was confronted by a group of men.

The victim and one of the men became involved in an argument in the area of the junction with Crown Road which then escalated.

He was then stabbed in the shoulder and the attacker ran away towards the railway station.
