A FORMER sports and social club could be demolished to make way for 96 new flats.
A planning application has been submitted to Thurrock Council for the development of the Athlone House site in Dock Road Tilbury.
The Thurrock Gazette understands that the club has been permanently closed.
The plans include construction of two blocks of 96 apartments with 88 parking spaces and conversion existing garage type buildings into a one bedroom bungalow with one parking space.
If agreed the development would also consist of 87 one bedroom homes and nine two bedroom homes.
Thurrock Council’s planning committee will consider the plans at a meeting on Thursday, March 16.
