Since I launched my show, Anything and Everything, I have noticed that there is an amazing music scene developing in Thurrock, most noticeably a hip-hop/rap scene.

I discovered this tidal wave of Thurrock talent after having a number of these young people on my show. Artists such as Jay, Sanya, Kage, D1, Mister Richie and Tommy Tucker are making a conscious effort to raise the profile of the music scene in Thurrock. It is inspiring to see so many young people passionate about their work, and also proud of the place they call home - Thurrock.

I am so proud of their achievements and the fact that they are gaining recognition outside of the borough. These young people deserve to be praised for their selflessness as they strive to make great music and join all of us in Thurrock to tell the world about the Royal Opera House, the Port of Tilbury, Intu Lakeside, DP World and our up-and-coming music scene. I will be doing whatever I can to support these great artists and I believe that we can all get involved.

Louisa Johnson won the X Factor competition in 2015. When J Sanya appeared on my show he said that she was an inspiration for what could be achieved. Why not find a local artist in any area of music, or the arts in general, and find out how you can support them to achieve and be amazing?

I am truly proud to be from Thurrock and I am extremely pleased to see our artists flourish. You can listen to the interviews I have had with some of these great artists on our website at this link: https://soundcloud.com/madeinchafford
