A SPECIAL council meeting is being held at Hassenbrook Academy, Stanford-le-Hope, tonight for further discussions over whether or not to create a parish council covering the Frost Estate in Corringham.

The council has to make a decision before its next scheduled meeting in September.

In September last year the council agreed to start a review into whether The Frost Estate should – or should not - have a parish council and the review has to close within 12 months.

Although the discussions have focused on the area’s non-adopted roads, the actual decision the council must make is whether “the interests of effective and convenient local government and community identities for the Frost Estate” would be best served by the creation of a parish council.

The council must also consider the impact of the arrangements on community cohesion, and the size, population and boundaries of any new local community or parish.

The proposed parish would take in the following roads: Arundel Drive, Balmoral Avenue, Central Avenue, Carisbrooke Drive, Chamberlain Avenue, Giffords Cross Avenue (numbers 2-44 and1-45 only), Lampits Hill Avenue, Montfort Avenue, Pembroke Avenue, Windsor Avenue, and York Avenue.
