A CREW of tiny movers and shakers are making a name for themselves on the street dance map after winning a place at one of the world’s most prestigious street dance competitions.

Fourteen tiny tumblers, all aged under ten from Grays and Chafford Hundred, won their place after scooping first prize in the national championships in Kent.

The nail-biting finale saw dance troupe D. Force fight off seven other dance schools to a spot in the coveted UDO Worlds X Street Dance Championships in Glasgow later this month.

Kelly Walsh, director of Danceology Dance School, said: “We just couldn’t believe it when they won. We didn’t think they’d got anywhere because it was so tough, and then when we heard the news everyone went mad – kids were screaming because they’d made it!”

Kelly, 39, of Cam Green, South Ockendon, added: “We are so proud – and so shocked! It’s unbelievable they’ve got this far, and how well they’re doing all over the place. I’m thinking of sending them onto Britain’s Got Talent next!”

Individual dancers and dance crews from 30 countries including from across Europe and as far afield as China, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Canada and the US, will travel to the Scottish city to compete in the eighth annual championships, which will be held over three days from August 28 to 30.
