Young and old 'Bug Detectives' are being summoned by Thurrock Council to investigate Coalhouse Fort at the end of May.

The popular tourist spot in East Tilbury is calling for small gumshoes to bring their gumboots to take part in a half term 'Bug Detectives showdown'.

Mini Investigators will get the chance to head off to two separate habitat sites, woodland and grasslands from around 10am to 12pm.

Activities will include creating artistic collages with materials found during the day, inspections of mini beasts, exploring habitats and chasing bumble bees.

The event will take place on Wednesday 27 and Thursday 28 May.

Investigators should assemble at the entrance at Coalhouse Fort at 10am.

Coalhouse Fort is recognised widely for its ecological importance and boasts a number of interesting inhabitants including the protected water vole and many species of bumble bee.

Places – at £5 each - are limited. The council has advised booking early to avoid disappointment. Call the Thameside box office telephone line on 0845 300 5264.
