A MANHUNT is underway after a stabbing in a pub.

A local man aged in his twenties is in a serious but stable condition in a London hospital after being stabbed multiple times in the Crown and Anchor pub in High Street, Aveley, just before 3pm on Saturday.

Police were called to an altercation between two men. A man was seen running off after the incident and despite extensive searches involving the helicopter and ground units there was no trace of him.

Det chief insp Mark Hall of the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate said: "Forensic examinations remain on-going and searches have been conducted locally.

"We want to hear from any witnesses who were in the pub at the time of the altercation and would like to hear from anyone who saw the man running away.”
