A MEMORIAL service is set to be held for Councillor Andy Smith who passed away last month.
The respected councillor died on Tuesday, August 12, aged 64 – his funeral was held on Monday.
A motion was unanimously passed to hold a memorial service in his memory during a council meeting yesterday evening.
Councillors also took turns to share their memories and pay touching tributes to Mr Smith.
Council leader, John Kent, led the tributes.
He said: “Andy is somebody who I am going to miss very much. He helped me a great deal when I was newly elected.
“He has always helped younger people and not only members of this group, he was always there to support young members whichever party they were from.”
