A WOMAN in an Islamic headscarf and a Latin American man are wanted by police after an elderly man had his debit card stolen.
The man was taking cash from a cashpoint on Clarence Road, Grays, when a man and a woman approached him.
The woman then distracted him by talking to him while the man, having stolen his card, immediately went to another cashpoint in town to withdraw £300.
The male suspect is described as Latin American, in his mid-40s, of medium build, about 5ft 8ins in height and with slightly grey hair.
He was seen wearing blue jeans, a blue baseball cap and a dark rugby style shirt with horizontal white stripes.
The female suspect is described as in her early 20s, of slim build with dark hair and of 5ft 3ins in height.
She was wearing blue jeans with a dark jacket and a floral hijab.
Anyone with information on the theft, which happened on June 6, is asked to contact PC Makin at Grays CID on 101 or via Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
