A CARE home in Grays which caters for people with complex disabilities has opened a new garden to help its residents feel relaxed.

The Coach House, on Woodward Heights, features a butterfly box, plants specially chosen plants for sensory purposes and a water feature. The garden took five weeks to come together.

Residents at the Coach House have a range of neurological conditions which have been acquired through a life changing event or diagnosis, such as a car accident, stroke or multiple sclerosis, resulting in the need for round the clock care.

Friends and family of residents were invited to the garden recently for its official opening and celebrated with a barbecue.

Moria Griffiths, of Family Mosaic, who carried out the work on the garden, said: “This garden will make a fantastic difference to customers’ lives.

“The opportunity to spend time outside with beautiful flowers, gorgeous smells and relaxing sounds is really important when your disability and health needs can limit your opportunities to travel so significantly.

“Thanks to all who have made this happen. It has been on the wish of list of customers for many years.”

This is brilliant - we are close to The Coach house and never knew about this - we all need to chat to each other, as residents and shop and business owners, regularly to keep each other in touch and can also perhaps be of assistance to each other.
