GILBERT and Sullivan fans will be treated this weekend to a spectacular performance of the classic comedy operetta Pirates of Penzance when it comes to the Thameside Theatre.
The production is being put on by the Thurrock Operatic Society (Tops), which has amassed more than 50 awards for using young actors, and this production will be the first from Tops Kids.
Gary and Ann Sullivan, who help to run the group, are excited for the production and the talent they have discovered during rehearsals.
Gary, group chairman, said: “The future of our local theatre scene relies on groups like Tops promoting and encouraging participation in live performance.
“We plan on running workshops and offering youngsters the chance to take part in a whole range of musical theatre projects, and where better place to start than with the musical operettea that helped to change the face of musicals more than 100 years ago.”
Tickets for the performances on Friday and Saturday are available from the theatre on Orsett Road, Grays.
