AUTHOR, comic and Britain’s Got Talent judge David Walliams recently read extracts from his bestselling children's books to lucky youngsters from the Lakeside kids’ club on a visit to the centre.

The event, last week, marked the launch of the centre’s partnership with the National Literacy Trust.

The star, best known for his role in sketch show Little Britain, brought his books Ratburger, Demon Dentist and the Slightly Annoying Elephant to life.

Izzie Peskett, the centre marketing manager, said: “As the UK’s number one children’s author, David Walliams was the perfect person to launch our literacy campaign.”

The next storytelling day, exclusively for members of the kids club, will be on Wednesday, March 19.
