THE Mayor of Thurrock has urged residents to arrange a health check to avoid problems later down the line.
Councillor Tony Fish was speaking after he and council staff undertook a series of tests for blood pressure and cholesterol levels from a healthcare trainer from Vitality, an Essex health and well being service.
Anybody aged 40-74 who has no pre-diagnosed long-term health problems, such as diabetes, is being urged to have a check.
Mr Fish said: “Although, of course, I do have a long-term condition, I think it is important to highlight that these health checks are available for everyone.
“Most people don’t go to see their doctor until there is a problem at which point it could be too late. These simple tests can identify potential health issues before they become a problem and action can be taken to stop them developing.
“Prevention is better than cure every time.”
To organise a check up call Vitality on 0800 0778000.
