Trains were delayed between Upminster and Pitsea tonight after a signal failure.

c2c services in and out of London Fenchurch Street to Shoeburyness were delayed and cancelled after the problem occured just before 5pm.

The company's Twitter page reported the 17.05 and 17.07 departures from Fenchurch Street were cancelled as well as the17.13 from Laindon. Other services to Shoeburyness ran via the loop.

Buses were ordered for journeys to West Horndon, Laindon and Basildon from Upminster/Pitsea.

Tickets were being accepted on Greater Anglia services between London Liverpool Street and Southend Victoria.

Crowd control measures were also put in at Fenchurch Street to control the amount of people going into the station.

The line was cleared and reopened by 6pm.

Crowd control, dont make me laugh the station wasnt even overcrowded in the first place as most people jumped on the first train that arrived at Fenchurch Street at 5.15pm, the station was still shut at 6.50pm, platforms were empty and all the trains that arrived at Fenchurch Street were leaving there empty, so thus causing unecessary delays to the commuters, once again ticket prices have risen and service has gotten worse!!

The front and side doors were closed - no people were on the platforms inside as my partner called me from the train as he had come back to Fenchurch St from Limehouse to meet me. He was on the train on his own. They kept the doors closed for ages and then everyone crammed in what trains were there. What I want to know is where were the 12 coach trains we were promised? They lengthened all the platforms and no train more than 8 coaches has ever been down the Tilbury line. If they had had a 12 coaches on last night we wouldn't have had to stand all the way to Grays. £2540 a year to be treated like that. Bunch of cowboys.
