South Ockendon grandmother scoops £1m lottery prize!

A GRANDMOTHER from South Ockendon has been left “All Shook Up” after scooping £1 million in the lottery.
Vera Webber, 69, initially thought she had won £20,000 from the lucky dip ticket she bought at the Tesco Extra at Lakeside.
Vera, a huge Elvis fan, had spent New Year’s Eve partying with friends and was unaware of her success until she checked the numbers online the following afternoon.
But she only knew she was officially a millionaire after her daughter checked the ticket and told her she had won the top prize in the Euromillions New Year’s Eve raffle.
Vera said: “There were about 20 of us welcoming in 2014 and I have to admit, the following day I was feeling a touch jaded.”
She must have been worse than she thought after she initially thought she had won £20,000.
Vera said: “It’s amazing. Ever since Julie told me how much I’d really won it has been a series of celebrations and good old fashioned knees ups with my family.”
Vera now plans to take her family, including six grandchildren, to Disneyland Florida to celebrate, but doesn’t plan on letting the money go to her head.
She said: “I have always worked hard and really know the value of money, so I’m not planning on frittering this win away.”
Vera was presented with a cheque by an Elvis impersonator - on what would have been the singers 79th birthday - and plans to go back to Graceland, where she last went in 2000, to visit the shrine to The King and to top up on her collection of Elvis memorabilia.
