COMPETITIVE bands slugged it out to be named the best at a Battle of the Bands contest.
More than 200 people attended the final, organised by the Rotary Club of Corringham Thameside and Gateway 97.8.
A record number of entries were received for the competition, which was whittled down to just six bands with live on air performances.
Listeners then chose their favourites to go through to the final, where more than 700 votes were cast.
The final was held at the Springhouse Club in Corringham last Friday.
Among the six judges were MP Stephan Metcalfe and Thurrock councillor Charlie Key, who proclaimed Not Now John the winners.
Profits will go to Thurrock Parkinson’s Support Group.
