THREE youths tried to steal £300 of lead from a porch roof.

The householder awoke in his home in Chelmer Drive, South Ockendon, to hear the youngsters trying to rip lead from the porch roof.

The resident disturbed the youths at 4.30am, last Thursday, and they ran off.

A 20-foot piece of lead was later found in a nearby park.

The suspects were small-built male teenagers, wearing tracksuits.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 0300 3334444.

And if the thieving bastards return to my home, then next time I'll be waiting.

Thankfully, my housemate disturbed them.

The world would be such a better place if, when caught, the victim and the victims friends (or paying guests) were allowed a 'few minutes' to show the theif the error of their ways.

That should help as a deterrent.
