FORTY-FIVE members, along with two new members, were welcomed by chairman Audrey Haines to the October meeting.
Members were reminded of the Federation Leisure Day and the Guild Christmas Party on December 7.
The chairman introduced our speaker for the afternoon Keith Lovell, whose subject was Historical Essex Underground.
His talk was most interesting in that he told us about the stations, but also the historical characters associated with the area.
He entertained with much humour and some ladies had the opportunity of selecting a station for themselves to hear of its history.
He was thanked by Rita Donaldson.
The competition, for an old Essex souvenir, was won by Lilian Gatehouse.
