AVELEY notched a thumping win, while Thurrock were held to a goalless draw and Grays Athletic and Tilbury suffered home defeats.

James Webster’s Aveley travelled into Norfolk to face Norwich United, where they were aiming to get back to winning ways following a 3-0 loss at Heybridge Swifts on Thursday.

A Calvin Ekpiteta strike, followed by two goals from Tom Richardson, allowed the Millers to claim a 3-0 Isthmian North victory.

Ekpiteta, who scored in the comfortable win over Canvey Island on Easter Monday, opened the scoring four minutes before the break.

Richardson doubled Aveley’s advantage five minutes after the interval, while the former East Thurrock United frontman completed his brace late on to ensure the Millers would return to Essex with all three points.

Meanwhile, Grays and Tilbury enjoyed less success in their respective Isthmian North fixtures.

Jamie Stuart’s Grays were condemned to a crushing 6-1 defeat by play-off chasing Dereham Town.

Rossi Jarvis broke the deadlock inside 14 minutes, but Kieran Bishop got Grays back on level terms less than 60 seconds later.

However, Ryan Crisp restored Dereham’s lead eight minutes before half-time.

Ashley Jarvis and Karol Wengrzik both got on the scoresheet in the space of two minutes to extend the visitors’ advantage at Parkside.

Ashley Jarvis and Jamie Forshaw scored Dereham’s fifth and sixth goals of the afternoon as Grays were heavily defeated.

Elsewhere, Tilbury lost 2-1 to Waltham Abbey.

Nathan Koranteng fired the away side into a 17th minute lead at Chadfields.

Darelle Russell doubled Waltham Abbey’s tally with just six minutes to play.

Jack Carlile scored from the penalty spot, but it proved to be too late for the Dockers to stage a comeback.

Thurrock played out a goalless draw with Metropolitan Police at Ship Lane.

Fleet went into the Isthmian Premier League encounter having suffered a 3-2 defeat at Harlow Town on Easter Monday.

But Mark Stimson’s side were left to settle for a second consecutive 0-0 draw at home having drawn by the same scoreline against Leiston seven days earlier.

However, Thurrock have now picked up 14 points from the last 21 on offer.
