GRAYS Athletic endured a day to forget as they were on the receiving end of a 4-0 thumping by Waltham Abbey.
Jamie Stuart's side went into the Isthmian North clash looking to bounce back from their midweek defeat to Maldon & Tiptree.
But former Billericay Town and Dagenham & Redbridge attacker Christian Assombalonga put the visitors in the driving seat with a goal inside eight minutes.
Grays boss Stuart would have been searching for a reaction from his players after the break, but three second half goals killed off any hopes of the home side taking anything from the encounter.
Bradley Sach, who joined on loan from Boreham Wood last week, entered the fray on the hour mark but could do nothing to prevent Waltham Abbey's dominance.
Rimmel Daniel converted on 66 minutes, while Mitch Hann also found the back of the net three minutes later.
Shad Ngandu wrapped up the scoring from the penalty spot with six minutes remaining at Parkside.
Grays Athletic: Johnson, Folkes, Cross, Halle, Bruce, Muguo, Poole (Carlos 46'), Cole, Bishop, Slabber (Sach 60'), Brown
