SOUTHEND United chairman Ron Martin is drawing up a shortlist of contenders for the vacant managerial role at Roots Hall.
Gary Waddock, who is currently caretaker manager, is among those being considered as Kevin Bond’s replacement after taking charge of the last two matches.
But Martin told Echosport he has been inundated by applicants.
“I am preparing a shortlist,” said Martin.
“However, the club is still receiving applicants every day.”
Former Manchester United and Celtic striker Henrik Larsson has not been approached despite reports linking him to the role.
Blues, who head to MK Dons on Saturday, are currently second bottom in League One having collected just one point from their first eight games.
