SOUTHEND United will be bidding to avoid an unwanted club record when they head to Wycombe Wanderers this weekend.
Never before in the club’s 113-year history have the Shrimpers started a season with five successive League defeats.
But Blues will face Wycombe without a single point to their name after suffering four defeats in a row.
And Southend boss Kevin Bond is desperate to avoid another setback.
“Tomorrow is vitally important because we have to get our season underway and we all understand that, nobody more than myself,” said Bond.
“The next game is the only game you can do that with but Wycombe have had a tremendous start to the season.”
