ECHOSPORT talks to Lincoln City fan Tony Ruby ahead of tomorrow’s game.

What have you made of the season so far?

“One word, it’s been used many, many times in the more recent of years and that’s unbelievable.

“So far we’ve played three, won three, scored five, conceded none.

“We’ve beaten two teams recently, one of which was a Championship side last season and the other was a Premier League club not so long ago.”

The Cowley brothers are well known here. How are they viewed by Lincoln fans?

“I can wax lyrical all day about these chaps and their families. These boys walk on water in Lincolnshire.

“They are an incredible pair of human beings. Their background is humble and their outlook on their own career is a very refreshing one.”

What would you say are the targets for this season?

“The Cowleys won’t use the word ‘consolidate’ as they know the fans don’t want a season aiming for survival or mid-table.

“But the Cowleys will expect us to be competitive in each match and then we shall see where that takes us. I, personally, think we have a shot at a top eight spot. If we can make the play-offs then brilliant.”

Who would you say is the Lincoln dangerman?

“Watch for Jack Payne, Bruno Andrade, Harry Anderson or John Akinde. Each one of them are capable of being a match winner in their own rights.”

What’s the team news?

“I suspect we’ll name a similar side to last weekend at Rotherham.

“A win at Huddersfield in midweek gave a few fringe players a chance to shine and we have Jason Shackell back from his suspension and available.

“But with three clean sheets behind us this season already I am not sure he has a case for a start this week.”
