FOOTBALL: A late goal secured the spoils for TILBURY away to Cheshunt in Ryman One North.

It was only the second time the Dockers had won in eight games, the other six all being defeats, and they had looked to be heading back to Essex with just a point.

Bobby Port had put Tilbury in front in the 37th minute when he scored from a short corner.

Cheshunt were reduced to 10 men in the 51st minute when David Hicks was dismissed for a nasty tackle.

But the Hertfordshire hosts made light of their numerical disadvantage to level through Rog Osei-Owusu in the 89th minute.

However, Dockers substitute Ibrahim Conteh delivered the knockout blow at the death to secure a 2-1 win.

Tilbury boss Paul Vaughan has added two new staff members to the backroom team. Vaughan has confirmed that Karl Sharman will join as press officer and coach while Joe Dorne has been announced as the new physio at the club. Tilbury has also confirmed that they have released Fabian Batchelor.

AVELEY recorded their first Ryman Premier League win of the season to move off the foot of the table.

A trio of second-half goals saw the Millers defeat Croydon Athletic 3-0 at Mill Field on Friday night.

Aveley were unable to turn first half dominance into goals, although they were only denied by a decent save from Glyn Shimell, while Anthony Achempong blocked another effort on the line.

Another shot was cleared off the line in the second half before the Millers finally made the breakthrough they deserved.

Kurt Smith tapped in after substitute Luke Stanley’s shot went across the face of the Croydon goal in the 81st minute.

It signalled the opening of the floodgates as Marc Gobel doubled the hosts’ advantage with a header in the 83rd minute. And Kurt Smith wrapped up the win from the penalty spot following a handball offence.
