Tilbury travelled to Cheshunt on Saturday despite lacking Daniel Smith, Manlee Brown, Ben Bradbury and Chris Taylor - all ruled out for the Trip to Theobald’s Lane.

Glen Golby also faced a late fitness test after missing the previous two games with a cut knee. He got the nod 30 minutes before kick off but this did not prevent Dockers losing 1-0 in a game which should really have seen honours shared.

Prior to Saturday’s game Tilbury were on a good run in the league.

They had gone unbeaten in their last nine games and were hoping to continue their way up into the top half of the league table.

Cheshunt kick off just as the rain started to fall.

The early game was a dull affair with no action until the 15th minute when Cheshunt’s low drive forced Andy Hall down low to scoop the ball up.

The Dockers first real attempt on gaol saw Lee Hodges make progress down the left.

He fired and Chehunt keeper Luke Dodd - although caught out of position - managed to palm the ball out for a corner.

In the 40th minute Cheshunt’s Boniek Forbes swung a great ball into the box.

The Ambers’ front man Bradley Harrison with the goal at his mercy hesitated, allowing Dockers skipper Jamie Wallace time to slide the ball from under his feet.

In the 44th minute Dockers were awarded a free kick and Joe Keith sent the ball into the heart of the Ambers box. It was cleared but Jamie Wallace collected, skipped passed three Amber shirts and put the ball into the path of Barnet whose shot was thwarted by Dodd.

After the restart Cheshunt’s Daniel Bradford produced a long range effort which sailed inches past the Tilbury post.

Chris Nwosu - on for Lee Hodges - came straight into the action and wrong footed a Cheshunt defender before slamming the slippery and wet ball past the post.

The winning goal came in the 85th minute. A scramble in the Dockers box saw the ball not cleared and Darren Williams toe poked the ball over the line from 6 yards out.

Cheshunt kept the hammer down on the Tilbury defence and continued to attack.

A long ball over the top of the napping Tilbury defence allowed Cheshunt in on goal. Hall using the whole of his area to narrow the angle forcedc the ball to be driven across goal into the path of Harrison whose effort was scarpered by a Rickie Hayles last minute tackle.

The Dockers reduced to 10 men – match official Mr Mackay deciding a straight Red was justified - Joel Barnet given his marching orders for a challenge 30 yards from goal – Barnet was adjudged to have “prevented a goal scoring opportunity” when, in the view of Dockers fans, the ball was going away from goal.

The game ended with the Dockers unbeaten run coming to an end – The Ambers taking all three points when a point a piece would have been a fairer result.

The Man of the Match award went to Jamie Wallace for his gusty performance.
