Tilbury pegged back by Maldon in entertaining draw

Missing prolific striker Chris Stowe through injury, Dockers suffered a further blow when Michael Black left the action through injury after less than half an hour.

As they adapted to the absences Tilbury found the going tough and spent much of the half on the back foot, with only a long range shot from Anton Stephenson going down as a threat to former Tilbury keeper Dave McCartney.

However, though Maldon had chances they failed to make their dominance pay and they found that costly just two minutes into the second half when Tilbury won a disputed penalty.

It came when Alan Sampson was adjudged to have fouled Saleem Grant and though Maldon protested, Keith slotted home the spot-kick in exemplary fashion, much to the delight of most of the 88 spectators.

From then on the game ebbed and flowed from end to end, with Maldon playing full part in an entertaining game and they thoroughly deserved their equaliser, which came on 78 minutes from Danny Roles.
