DANNY Scopes is bursting with pride after leading Concord Rangers into the third round of the FA Trophy for the first time in the club's history.

Having seen Billy Roast's thumping header cancelled out by a Ryan Brunt spot-kick, Joel Nouble netted in the 88th minute to guide the Beach Boys to a 2-1 replay win over National League South rivals Bath City.

And Scopes, who is enjoying his second spell in charge - having worked as joint-manager with Danny Cowley - and also represented the club during his playing career, is filled with joy.

"I am proud every day because I am the manager of Concord Rangers and I love this club," said Scopes.

"Bringing success to all of the people involved with the club is fantastic.

"I have been involved with Concord for a long time, but there are a lot of people that have been here longer and it's incredible to give them great pleasure.

"Concord is a special club for me and I, as well as the club, want to succeed.

"I take it personally when I can't give the people who work so hard for the club and support us joy, so making club history is fantastic.

"It's great seeing everyone smiling after a big result and that makes it all worthwhile."

Concord will now do battle with National League North outfit Leamington with a place in the quarter-finals up for grabs next month.

And Scopes was pleased to see his side come of age in the second half at Twerton Park.

"We were under no pressure because no-one expected us to win at Bath due to their fantastic home record," added Scopes.

"At half-time, I told the players to be brave and we slowly gained in confidence as well as territory.

"We put them under pressure and, particularly in the last 10 minutes, it looked like only one team was going to win and that was us.

"I knew the goal was coming but it was a great feeling when Joel scored.

"We aren't in any competition to simply make up the numbers and we want to compete.

"I was proud of the boys and they matured in a 45 minute period of the match."

And Scopes confirmed the prize money of £5,250 will be put to good use.

"A lot of stuff is planned in advance and the money will go a long way," admitted Scopes.

"Improvements are already being made to the stadium and it's fantastic.

"We have come a long way since I was playing for the club."
