FORMER Shrimpers star Stan Collymore will be back in Southend this week.

Collymore, who scored 18 goals in 33 games for Blues, has been added to the hall of fame event which is being held at the Park Inn on Friday night.

And the 48-year-old cannot wait to come back.

Collymore tweeted: “I’m really looking forward to seeing everyone. It’s been a while.”

Collymore will be joining fellow ex-Shrimpers Frankie Banks, Billy Best, Paul Brush, Mervyn Cawston, Paul Clark, David Crown, Kevin Maher, Roy McDonough, Ron Pountney and Steve Tilson at the event which the club have organised in association with the Southend United ex-players association and the Shrimpers Trust.

The evening includes a drinks reception, a two-course meal, half bottle of wine per person, tea and coffee and live musical entertainment as well as the hall of fame presentation and a Q&A with the ex-players.

And Blues’ head of commercial Rhys Ellingham is certain it will be a night to remember.

“A lot of work has gone into this from the ex-players association and the Shrimpers Trust and it will be great to see so many club legends there,” said Ellingham.

“It really should be a great evening.”

Tickets are still available for the night, priced at £54.
