SOL Campbell is deep in talks to become Southend United’s next manager.
The former England international resumed discussions with the Shrimpers last week.
And Echosport understands that talks have continued throughout the weekend and remain positive.
Campbell guided Macclesfield Town to safety in League Two last season, despite taking charge of the Silkmen when they were five points from safety.
The ex-Arsenal defender reignited talks with Blues after Henrik Larsson’s proposed switch to Roots Hall fell through due to Tommy Johnson, the proposed head of operations, pulling out t the last minute.
Blues chairman Ron Martin has moved on swiftly since the setback and Campbell is expected to name former Manchester United star Andy Cole as striker coach and ex-Ipswich Town defender Hermann Hreidarsson as his assistant manager.
