Watford are the only team to show real interest in Ismaila Sarr, according to president of Rennes, Olivier Letang.

Speaking at a press conference on Monday afternoon, Letang unveiled new players to the press and was asked about the possibility of Sarr leaving during this transfer window.

The club president confirmed Watford's interest, but said their current offer was not high enough and that he hoped the Senegalese forward would stay in France for another year.

However, he also admitted this might not be possible, should the Hornets return with an irresistable offer.

"There've been no new offers," said Letang about Sarr.

"Only Watford have shown a real interest in the player. We'd be very happy if Isma stayed with us for another year.

"But it's a strong possibility [he will leave] if an offer we can't refuse arrives."

Links between the 21-year-old and Watford have continued throughout the summer, while the player was on international duty at the African Cup of Nations.

Reports in the Evening Standard today suggest the Hornets are now ready to step up their efforts to finally complete the transfer of the player, after initial contact has been made.

Earlier this month, reports emerged that claimed the winger had told friends he wanted to make the switch to Vicarage Road after hearing of Watford's interest.

Any deal for the player would likely see him become the most expensive in the club's history.
