SOUTHEND United manager Kevin Bond insists he is pleased with his striking options heading into the new season.

Bond snapped up Brandon Goodship from non-league Weymouth to increase his attacking options.

But Bond feels Goodship’s arrival does not necessarily mean another forward will be leaving.

“Brandon signing doesn’t mean anything will happen and we have to remember Stephen Humphrys and Tom Hopper are both coming back from nasty injuries still,” said Bond.

“I’m pleased to have options.”

Bond now has five senior strikers with Simon Cox and Theo Robinson also vying for selection while highly-rated youngster Charlie Kelman will also be pushing to make a breakthrough.
