GREAT Wakering Rovers are relishing the challenge of going up against Isthmian North high-flyers Maldon & Tiptree this afternoon.

Wakering, who are 16th in the standings, travel to second-placed Maldon’s Park Drive home for a 1pm kick-off.

And interim player-manager Steve Butterworth is expecting a positive result after last weekend’s 2-1 defeat to Bury Town ended a run of five matches unbeaten.

“It should be a good game and it’s a nice place to go with a lovely pitch,” said Butterworth.

“It will be interesting to see how we do because Maldon are one of the best teams in the division but we’re in good form and full of confidence.

“We’ll be going there expecting to get something from the game.

“We will play how we’ve been playing in recent weeks and we seem to always turn up when we have been playing the teams fighting at the top of the league.

“There is no pressure on us, so we’ll go there looking to express ourselves.”
