POLICE are continuing their investigations into the incident that saw Grays defender Jamie Stuart sent off and York City player Chris Beardsley with a broken jaw.

Former England Under-21 international and Grays vice-captain Stuart received a red card on September 22 from referee David Phillips from whome police have now asked for a statement.

Derby-based striker Beardsley is likely to be sidelined for between three and four months.

York City director Sophie McGill said Beardsley had been interviewed by police in connection with the incident.

30-year-old Stuart has courted controversy in the past, being sacked by Charlton Athletic and banned for six months by the FA after testing positive for cocaine and marijuana in 1997.

Since his return, Stuart has represented Millwall, Southend United, Bury and Hornchurch before joining Grays - where he has won two FA Trophy winners' medals and the player of the year award last season - in 2004.
