EAST Thurrock Manager Lee Patterson has criticised his players' "silly mistakes" after Saturday's 2-2 draw away to Hastings United.

"Although it is pleasing that we finally scored a couple of goals, I am very disappointed to have only come away with a point," he said.

"We created 10 chances in the game and some of the chances were easier to score than our actual goals.

"We have been working on a lot of things in training, but no amount of work will matter unless we stop making silly mistakes. Both Hastings' goals were down to us as we made errors to allow both chances which were taken.

"In one respect with the amount of injuries we sustained and players missing, it could be a good point, but I think once we get in front we should then have enough about us to kill a game off.

"We had Steve West, Leli Bajada, Wes Faulkner and Lee Williams missing, lost Dean Chandler and Max Cornhill to injuries, so that has put a strain on us squad wise.

"We shall have to see how we are for the League cup game at Margate on Tuesday."
