THURROCK were defeated 20-10 by Medway as they fell to a second defeat of the London 1 South season.

Having won two and lost one of their opening three matches, Thurrock came into the clash in good spirits but left it feeling sour after two decisions just before half-time changed the course of the game.

Firstly, Ben Stanley was yellow-carded for an alleged no arm tackle before Jake Barrand went for an interception with raised hands, earning a yellow card with Thurrock reduced to 13 men.

During the 10 minute spell either side of half time Thurrock conceded 10 points the difference between the two sides.

A converted try and a penalty put Medway ahead, until Thurrock deserved got on the scoreboard with a Reece Miller try to make the score 10-5 at the break. This came following good work from Tom Pool and Nat Farrell.

Thurrock fell 20-5 behind after half-time with pressure telling in the last 10 minutes told as Barrand crashed over following some great work from the forwards.

Thurrock had one last chance to snatch a losing bonus point with a last-minute penalty but it went just pass the posts.

Thurrock travel to unbeaten new boys Camberley on Saturday (kick-of 3pm).
