GRAYS Athletic endured a night to forget as they suffered a 9-1 defeat to an impressive Ipswich Town XI.

The Tractor Boys included Kai Brown, who made the move from Parkside to Suffolk midway through last season after a number of fine performances, in their side.

And Ipswich took the lead with less than a minute on the clock as Ben Morris found the back of the net.

Conor McKendry doubled the visitors’ advantage 20 minutes later, before Armando Dobra also got in on the act on the half an hour mark.

Ipswich then netted three times in as many minutes as Callum Thompson put through his own net before Jack Lankester added a brace of goals.

Ben Folami scored three minutes before the break to allow Ipswich to go in at half-time seven goals to the good.

Although Grays were to grab a consolation on the hour mark, thanks to a trialist, Brown was on target against his former side three minutes later to make it a goalscoring return to Parkside.

Rylie Scott rounded off the goals on 78 minutes.

Meanwhile, Tilbury were 4-2 winners against FC Romania.

Joe Paxman broke the deadlock after eight minutes, while Abdus Salami doubled the Dockers’ lead midway through the first half at Chadfields.

FC Romania got a goal back, but James Walker restored Tilbury’s two-goal advantage and Tom Anderson netted the hosts’ fourth goal of the evening three minutes later.

The visitors grabbed a second goal two minutes from time.
