EAST Thurrock United came from two goals down to claim a 4-2 victory over Aveley.

Rocks get their National League South campaign underway with a home clash against Woking on Saturday, August 4.

And their pre-season schedule got off to a winning start.

Calvin Ekpiteta, who joined Aveley after departing East Thurrock midway through last season, broke the deadlock on the stroke of half-time to give James Webster’s side the lead.

And Alex Teniola, who was one of the Millers’ star performers in the Isthmian North last term, doubled Aveley’s advantage after the break.

The hosts, who have made a number of impressive signings during the summer, have been tipped as one of the sides likely to compete for promotion to the Isthmian Premier League this season after enjoying a fine end to the campaign.

However, John Coventry’s side hit back at Parkside.

The likes of Lukas Lidakevicius, Ryan Sammons, Max Cornhill, James White, Montel Agyemang and Reece Harris have left Rookery Hill since April.

But two trialists shone for East Thurrock as Coventry looks to add to his squad, which has already been bolstered with the addition of former England international full-back Paul Konchesky as a player coach.

The trialists shared all four of Rocks’ goals between them as the visitors came from two goals down to win the friendly.

After gaining the lead, the away side ran out comfortable winners.
