EAST Thurrock United played out a low key stalemate in their National League South clash against Eastbourne Borough.
Rocks needed a steady start after Tuesday’s horror show against Spennymoor Town in the FA Trophy and there was nothing between the teams in the first 10 minutes.
It was a low key first half an hour, with the best chance Lewis Smith’s deft back heel that was straight at goalkeeper Mark Smith.
Up the other end Charlie Harris shot inches wide following a flowing counter-attack but that was it in a first half that was largely dictated by the weather conditions.
Midway through the second half a Sam Higgins drive was well parried by Smith, although Borough were enjoying large spells of possession in the hosts’ final third.
Lukas Lidakevicius was needed to make two smart stops but it was to end goalless.
East Thurrock United: Lidakevicius, Sammons, Knott (Agyemang 83’), Burns, M. Ekpiteta, Phipps, Christou, Cornhill (White 89’), Higgins, Smith, Harris
