TILBURY edged out Heybridge Swifts 1-0 thanks to an early own goal at Chadfields.

The Dockers came into the clash on the same amount of points as Swifts, although the visitors had 10 games in hand due to their early season cup commitments.

But it was Tilbury that emerged victorious.

The only goal of the game cam after six minutes, Thomas Cooney striking past his own goalkeeper.

Chances for each side followed but Joe Keith's team held out, with Kreshnic Krasniqi sent off for two late yellow cards to compound a miserable evening for Heybridge.

In the Isthmian Premier League, Thurrock came unstuck at in-form Margate.

Fleet lost 2-0 at the Kent side, conceding the first goal on the stroke of half-time to former Concord Rangers striker Jordan Chiedozie.

The same man scored Margate's second with a deft header in the second period as Fleet remain 13th in the standings.
