ORSETT & Thurrock failed to make the most of a good wicket as they were beaten by Woodford Wells in Shepherd Neame Division One.
Orsett had won the toss and elected to bat but opening batsman Umar Ayub last just one ball as he went for a golden duck in the first ball of the innings. Paul Bennett (14) and Mark Pavitt (two) didn’t hang around much longer, with Daniel Laird unfortunately run out when he was building a good score on 58.
Matt Hills’ 53 was the best of the rest, as Orsett closed on 213 in 47.3 overs.
And Woodford Wells lost just four wickets in the chase. Jonathan Gaffney (52) was the top scorer, with three of his team-mates scoring thirties as well.
Shahid Khan (2-35) and Umaad Sultan (1-41) took the wickets.
