THURROCK Harriers finished an admirable third in the recent Eastern Youth Athletics League at Peterborough last Sunday.

Harriers accrued 618 points, an achievement made more impressive by a big shortage of athletes and tough competition from big clubs such as Nene Valley and Havering.

The Under-17 men came first overall in their age group, with the U-15 girls second, the U-17 women third and the U-13 girls, U-13 boys and U-15 boys fourth overall.

Many of the young athletes took part in track & field events, as well as a number of new events and some athletes completed in higher age groups securing new personal best times.

The Coaches' and Committee members thanked all the athletes that took part and their friends and family who travelled out to support the athletes on the day.

The next league match is in July at Sandy, in Bedfordshire.
