Merstham 2-2 Grays Athletic
From Moatside
Ryman Premier League
GRAYS Athletic conceded the lead twice against Merstham as they made it back-to-back draws at the start of the new year.
Bradley Fortnam-Tomlinson and Kenny Beaney got the Grays goals, only for a strike six minutes from time to deny them all three points.
Blues boss Mark Bentley was celebrating a year in charge of Grays, and they were looking for their first three points of 2016.
Having secured a point against East Thurrock last time out, Blues travelled to Surrey in a confident mood.
And it took them just six minutes to break the deadlock, with Fortnam-Tomlinson on target for his 14th of the season.
But that lead lasted just two minutes, as Fabio Saravia drew the home team level.
Level at the break, it took just nine minutes for skipper Kenny Beaney to make his mark as he buried an effort to put the visitors back in front.
But six minutes from time, Tommy Kavanagh grabbed a second equaliser for Merstham to ensure the points were shared.
Grays: Johnson, Ifill, Siva, Leader, Cronin, Hutchins, Agyemang, Michael-Percil, Beaney, Fortnam-Tomlinson, Davidson, Carlos
