Cray Wanderers 1-3 Aveley
From Hayes Lane
Ryman One North
AVELEY slipped to eighth after they were comfortably beaten by an ever-improving Cray Wanderers side.
Steve Willis scored the Aveley goal but it proved to be nothing more than a consolation for Justin Gardner’s team.
Lea Dawson put Cray in front after just 12 minutes with a header, although Aveley were only kept out by some terrific defending from the home team soon after.
Ahmed Deen pulled Aveley out of a hole with a fine goal line clearance but the second goal wasn’t long in coming as Karl Dent volleyed past James Marrable after a slick move.
The Millers saw a penalty appeal turned down before a more even second half.
With five minutes remaining Aveley were given a glimmer of hope when Willis flicked in a Deen corner, but Andre McCollin made it 3-1 as the clock ticked into injury-time to end the contest.
Aveley: Marrable, Preston, Deen, Baker, Harrison, Willis, Nash (Elliott), Holland (Retkoceri), Elbi, Pearman (Peagram), Seymour
