Firefighters rescued two horses that escaped onto High Road, Fobbing at the weekend.
A fire crew from Corringham were called out to rescue the animals at 7.20pm yesterday evening.
Firefighters were helped by members of the public in securing both animals before they were led to the safety of a nearby field by 8.20pm.
Station Officer Geoff Wheal said: "Firefighters contained the horses and led them off the High Road to a safe field. We were concerned about the safety of the animals and nearby road users.
"I would like to thank local residents who assisted us during this incident."
