Concerns were raised at last night’s council meeting over the proposal to build 6,000 homes on the A128 border with Thurrock.
Cllr Sue Little asked the council what plans were in place to protect rural homes along the Thurrock side of the A128.
Cllr Little said residents had contacted her with concerns about the travellers’ site and increased traffic on the roads near their homes.
Basildon and Brentwood councils gave planning permission for the development, which is set to include a traveller’s site, commercial buildings and open spaces.
The matter was noted by Cllr Oliver Gerrish, portfolio holder for Highways and Transportations, who said he would look into it.
