Inbetweeners star James Buckley has revealed he has a genetic health condition that has forced him to quit drinking alcohol.
The 38-year-old actor is best known for his role as Jay Cartwright, which he played across three seasons of the show and two films that followed.
He discussed the diagnosis on a recent episode of the At Home With The Buckleys podcast.

James explained that he has high levels of Lipoprotein(a), a genetically inherited type of blood cholesterol.
Mr Buckley said: "I’ve also had health problems as well.
"It’s something to do with my Lipoprotein(a), something to do with that.
"There’s nothing you can do about it, by the way.
"And the doctor’s just been like, 'you need to change.'"
As a result, he has stopped drinking for the time being and made significant changes to his diet.
Mr Buckley explained that he decided to get checked out.
He said: "I’m at a high risk now for a cardiovascular incident.
"My heart, my arteries."
The diagnosis came after his wife, Clair, was rushed to hospital with severe dehydration.
Despite the lifestyle changes, Mr Buckley hasn't ruled out having another drink in the future.
He joked: "I feel like I’ve been on this podcast slagging people off that don’t drink.
"Yeah, we have boring stuff.
"And now I’ve been told to try not … rein it in.
"But I'm going to have a beer soon."
Is the Inbetweeners returning?
An official comeback for The Inbetweeners has been confirmed, but no official date has been given.
Last year, series creators Iain Morris and Damon Beesley signed a partnership agreement with production giant Banijay UK, which opened the door for potential future projects involving the original characters.
Netflix has reportedly signed up all four of the original stars, Simon Bird, Joe Thomas, James Buckley and Blake Harrison, to reprise their roles for a movie, according to The Sun.
The streaming giant is also looking to get Emily Atack to return as Charlotte Hinchcliffe.
A TV insider said: “The creators of the show have written the script and are ready to roll — but Emily is one of the missing pieces in the project they’re keen to get in place.
“Fans will already be delighted that the four main leads are returning as there was concern that a reboot might see new, younger actors cast in the roles of the lads, who were all supposed to be teenagers in the show.
“But it’s fair to say getting Emily back would be the cherry on the Inbetweeners cake.”
